Quick-read: Terms of Use

  • Product Assistance: This store, built on OpenCart, is a lightweight but professional shopping cart system. Therefore, creating your products, information, payment and shipping terms and more will require a learning process. I won't be available at all times to answer questions or walk you through product management... though I will do my best to help when I have the free time.

    OpenCart is a well documented system though, with easy to follow instructions. Please refer to the link below to guide you through setting up and managing your account, products and product options.

  • Image Sizing: Product Images rarely need to be large scale, high resolution images. (Though we in the San Juans love our beautiful landscapes!). Please keep saleable products to around 1024px width or so. Gallery prints & photographs for sale can be a bit larger at your discretion.

  • Payment Terms: To keep a website up and running costs time and money. Besides development of the site itself, there are costs for hosting the site, registering the domain(s), and purchasing any extensions that may need to extend its functionality. All products sold on the site will require an x% commission paid to the developer/creator of the site.

Creating your Account

All businesses who have a Store will also have a Business Directory profile. But not all businesses who have a Business Directory will have a Store. Plus the store takes some manual setup. So there are different Account Locations for the Business Directory and the Store.

The location for your Store Administration will be https://mybusinessname.sanjuanbusiness.com/admin . Make sure to replace the "mybusinessname" part with the actual name of your business.

Things to note about your business name.

  • Let's use "Bob's Plumbing" as an example.
  • Apostrophes  '  are removed.
  • Spaces are replaced with dashes.  -
  • So "Bob's Plumbing" will turn to "bobs-plumbing" in the URL.
  • The link to your Store's Admin will look like this. https://bobs-plumbing.sanjuanbusiness.com

Setting up your Store

NOTE: Many of these steps require tasks for the Admin/Developer. All steps are listed, but the Business can ignore the Admin tasks. Each item is labelled "Admin", "Business" to identify such tasks.
  1. Admin: Set up Subdomain and Store for the business.
  2. Admin: Enter basic store information.
  3. Admin: Create User for the business, send location and login details to the business.
  4. Business: Login to the Administration. Add Business logo and flesh out Business Information details.
  5. Business: (optional) Provide any Payment & Shipping requirements to the Admin... that may go outside default settings. Note that these settings may be global, and not configurable at the store level.
  6. Business: Begin to add products. Contact me if I need to add more categories to correctly identify your products.

Customer Instructions

  1. From the Main Site, click on the "Marketplace" link.
  2. On the very Top Bar, there is a "My Account" tab. Click on that, then click on "Register".
  3. Enter your details. (First Name, Last Name, Email, Telephone, Password). All fields are required. Essential! Please create a complex password: optimal is at least 14 characters, with numbers & symbols.
  4. There will be no newsletter in the forseeable future. But if or when a newsletter is set up, you can pre-subscribe here by clicking "Yes". This will give permission to use your email address.
  5. Open your email and click on the link provided in the Confirmation Email so you can log in.
  6. Log in.
    Once you log in, you will have access to your account dashboard. All the available options there are self-explanatory.

How to: Edit Listing / Profile

  1. From the Main Site, click on the "Local Directory" link.
  2. On the Directory Menu, click "Sign in".
  3. Once you Sign in, your name will appear in the directory menu.
  4. Click on your Name, then "Dashboard".
  5. Once you're in the Dashboard, you can Add or Edit Profile and Listing information as needed.
